The Luxury of More

“Ama” means love – and love is at the heart of everything we do, from the way we design our ships to the development of our river cruise itineraries to the high levels of service we deliver to our guests. It is a philosophy that drives our attention to detail, constant innovation and culture of always making our guests our top priority. Whether you choose to sail with us through Europe, Asia or Africa, you will always find yourself in a place where luxury means love. And since you can never have too much love, you’ll experience the luxury of more – more ways to discover, more ways to indulge and more onboard amenities. With an award-winning fleet, critically acclaimed dining and a variety of authentic included excursions, we will turn every mile of your journey into a cherished memory.

Sophisticated, contemporary and elegantly appointed, your spacious stateroom serves as your personal oasis for rejuvenation. Most of the staterooms in our fleet feature not just one, but two private balconies — a French balcony and a full outside balcony. In fact, we were the very first river cruise line to offer these signature view-enhancing “twin balconies.” Together, they provide a unique panoramic view of the beautiful sights along the river while inviting both fresh air and natural light inside. With twin balconies, you can enjoy the river however you wish.

Each of our intimate river cruise ships is a floating sanctuary. That’s why we choose to carry an average of just 156 guests*, so that we can offer you the luxury of personal space in larger staterooms that range from 155-350 sq ft (355-710 sq ft aboard AmaMagna) and provide more amenities. With fewer people on board, our inviting public venues, including restaurants and lounges, are never crowded.

We realize that our guests have different tastes, so we’ve developed a diverse menu of included shore excursions to accommodate all travelers with a personalized experience in every port of call. In many destinations, you’ll be free to choose from one of several tours — all of which are included in your cruise fare. There’s always a city tour designed to show you the renowned highlights and landmarks in grand capitals and charming villages alike. Is it your first time in Vienna, Austria? Opt for an unforgettable exploration of the major sights led by a local, English-speaking guide that is well-versed in history and culture. Have you already been to Nuremberg, Germany? Instead of taking the city tour, indulge in a bratwurst and beer tasting on one of our immersive culinary-themed Special Interest Tours, which are specially designed to place you in the midst of local life. We also offer different activity levels for gentle, regular and active walkers, as well as guided hiking and biking tours. The choice is yours.

Explore Europe’s amazing sights like the locals do. We were the first river cruise line to carry an entire fleet of complimentary bicycles on board, so you can experience biking alongside enchanting riverside pathways and in city centers. Whether you feel like joining one of our exclusive guided bike tours, or want to go discover on your own, there are many ways for you to explore on two wheels during your cruise. The beauty of Europe doesn’t just lie in its architecture and landmarks – there are also breathtaking sights to be seen when you venture out into nature. That’s why we’ve designed special guided hikes that will take you a bit off the beaten path, offering a unique perspective in beautiful destinations such as Austria’s UNESCO-designated Wachau Valley. All of our guided hikes and bike tours are included in the cruise fare so you have more choices when it comes to how you prefer to explore.

Our ships in Europe are members of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs – a prestigious international culinary society – and with good reason. Our expert chefs craft menus that feature exquisite, locally-sourced cuisine as well as traditional Western offerings. The Chef’s Table is an intimate specialty restaurant included in the price of the cruise where you can watch the chef prepare a lavish multi-course menu right in front of you. Each dinner at The Chef’s Table is served with complimentary hand-selected local reds and whites from Europe’s renowned wine regions. There’s also sparkling wine and fresh juice with breakfast, menu service during lunch, as well as delicious tapas and snacks in the Main Lounge between meals. All onboard dining, as well as unlimited wine and beer with lunch and dinner, is included so you can indulge whenever and however you’d like.

Our genuinely warm and welcoming crew go above and beyond to ensure your journey with us is as memorable as possible, and you can rest assured you will be well taken care of throughout your journey by our professionally trained, all English-speaking staff. We hire the very best team of professionals in the industry and continuously train them to ensure they always exceed expectations. This means getting to know you so they can anticipate your individual preferences and offer you those extra special touches to make you feel at home. From the Cruise Manager who drove a beloved teddy bear to the airport to meet his grateful young owner to the Hotel Receptionist who biked into town to retrieve a cherished purchase left behind, our crew is more than just highly trained – they “sparkle.”

With fewer guests on board, we have space for luxurious amenities. Relax with a soothing massage after a day of exploring, stay in shape with a small group wellness activity led by a professionally trained Wellness Host, work out in the fitness room or watch breathtaking castles glide by while enjoying a cocktail up on the Sun Deck. You can also take a dip in our sun-deck pool with a swim-up bar. On any of our ships, you can also recharge from the comfort of your stateroom by watching a Hollywood blockbuster or a variety of other English-language programming on your personal Entertainment-On-Demand system.

Part of the draw of traveling to new destinations is immersing yourself in authentic local culture. We are happy to bring evening entertainment on board that includes musicians, folkloric dancers and storytellers who live and work in the cities we sail to and are happy to share their cultural traditions and talents with you. Whether it’s traditional Bavarian music, a local quartet or contemporary piano favorites played by our resident musician, you will enjoy an eclectic schedule of onboard entertainment every night.

While on your river cruise, you’ll want to share all the pictures you take of everything you see and do. We also understand the importance of staying in touch with your loved ones back home. That’s why we provide complimentary internet access and Wi-Fi when you’re aboard. And you can download our interactive myAmaCruise app to your phone or tablet to read about your daily program and shore excursions, track your itinerary and even email personalized postcards back home.

Our river cruise line has always been inspired by a vision of innovation. Among other things, we were the first to offer twin-balcony staterooms, include a specialty restaurant, carry a fleet of bicycles on board and offer a broad selection of tours. We were also the first river cruise line to offer professionally trained Wellness Hosts leading a range of complimentary wellness activities on board. In addition, our ships are uniquely designed to minimize the impact of water levels on the river, featuring low drafts for when there isn’t enough water, and specially engineered wheelhouses for when there is too much water. Twenty of our ships in Europe were also honored with prestigious Green Award certification demonstrating high safety and environmental standards based on our engines, fuel consumption, pollution prevention and more. Further, our AmaMagna debuted on the Danube River in 2019 with an innovative 10-engine configuration designed to reduce overall fuel consumption by up to 20% depending on river conditions. We continue to be at the pulse of travel trends and to look at new ways we can innovate to enhance our guests’ experience.

We offer unique itineraries that let travelers delve into the rich history and culture of Europe. Our Celebration of Wine Cruises are the perfect way to add an epicurean dimension to your journey, with wine-related excursions and a knowledgeable Wine Host on board. With more than 60 unique Wine Cruises to choose from, you can discover such iconic wine regions as France’s Bordeaux; Austria’s UNESCO-designated Wachau Valley; Germany’s Riesling-rich Rheingau and Moselle valleys; Portugal’s Douro Valley; and more. Or, you can get into the holiday spirit on one of our festive Christmas Markets or New Year’s cruises through Europe. Each of our Christmas Markets cruises includes elegant holiday décor aboard the most beautifully decked ships on the river, a holiday feast with all the trimmings, and additional surprises and delights.
